Yummy Christmas Crafts
For Christmas 2006 Adam and I decided to make presents for everyone! We had been doing a lot of cooking all year, so it made sense to cook nice things for people for Christmas. We made three recipes.
Firstly, we made Pear and Chocolate preserve. We kept some for ourselves and it is super nice! We had to make 2 batches because we bought so many pears (about 25!). Here they are, with one pan about to have the sugar mixed in:

Next we cooked the pears for a while:

Then in went the chocolate, mmmmmm:

The next day we cooked that all together:

It made a lot of jars, we get to keep some!

The second thing we made was almond biscotti. First you bake large logs of the dough:

Then you cut it into slices and bake them again:

Then we dipped the cooled biscotti in melted chocolate:

Adam did one specially for himself, can you guess which it is?!

Also, we made Chocolate and Almond fudge, which we made up the recipe for, so I will give it to you:
Heat together 1140g sugar, 285g butter, a 410g can of evaporated milk and 100ml cream in a heavy based pan, until soft ball stage (use a thermometer). Remove from the heat and stir in 2 tsp almond essence, and 150g dark chocolate, broken into pieces. Beat until the mixture begins to grain and pour into a greased 9 x 9 inch tin to set. Sprinkle with chopped almonds.
Here's the fuge!

And here's the whole lot altogether:
